During the period from March 1 to March 31, 2026, the Naples Police Department responded to a total of 396 calls for service within the GSAC community. These calls included both criminal and non-criminal matters, reflecting the wide range of assistance provided by the police.
The majority of these calls—208 in total for the month of March—were categorized as ‘extra patrols’. These patrols, sometimes referred to as ‘directed’ patrols, involve targeted police presence in specific areas to deter criminal activity. Officers focus their efforts on locations that may require additional attention. For example, if there were recent burglaries at beach parking lots, patrol officers would increase their presence in those areas to prevent further incidents.
According to GSAC liaison officer Jeff Perry, the initiation of these patrols can come from various sources. Supervisors may request extra patrols based on observed crime trends, patrols may be conducted in response to previous incidents in the area, or they may be initiated due to complaints from local residents.
Typically, only a small fraction of calls result in formal incident reports. In March, just five incident reports were filed. Additionally, three traffic crashes were reported during this period; fortunately, none of these crashes resulted in injuries.
