In response to the growing threat of cybercrime nationwide, the Naples Police Department has taken a proactive step under the very competent leadership of NPD Chief Ciro Dominguez by forming a dedicated Cyber Crimes Unit. At the helm of this initiative is Sergeant Bijan Razilou, an expert in digital forensics and cyber investigations.
Sergeant Razilou brings a wealth of experience to his role as the head of the Cyber Crimes Unit with a background in Computer Science and over a decade of experience in cybersecurity. He has been a member of the NPD for twenty-two years, serving as a Detective for more than a decade. Sergeant Razilou has worked with federal agencies as well as private sector firms to combat cyber threats. His experience in digital evidence and his commitment to community safety make him an ideal leader for this unit.
The decision to establish a Cyber Crimes Unit stems from a noticeable increase in cybercrimes affecting both individuals and businesses across the nation.
From identity, theft and financial fraud to ransom ware attacks cyber criminals have become more sophisticated targeting communities of all sizes.
The rise in cyber threats has underscored the need for specialized local units capable of responding quickly and effectively to the crime.
Across the nation, law enforcement has reported a surge in cyber incidents, according to recent data cyber fraud has caused individuals and businesses billions of dollars annually. These trends have prompted cities like Naples to strengthen their defenses, and ensure that local law-enforcement is equipped to handle the digital age challenges.
By launching this unit, the NPD aims to stay ahead of cyber criminals and protect the community. The cybercrime unit will focus on investigating online scams, protecting sensitive data and collaborating with other agencies to trade and apprehend offenders. This proactive approach not only strengthens Naples security but also reinforces the cities commitment to the evolving landscape of crime.
With Sergeant Razilou’s leadership and his dedicated team, the NPD is poised to make significant stride in combating cybercrime.
The Naples Police Department cybercrimes unit formed in October 2025 includes three detectives who specialize in digital forensics.
They handle a range of Internet related crimes from child exploitation and hacking to identity and cryptocurrency theft.
They also support other departments and collaborate with state local and federal agencies. The unit focuses on community education through social media and presentations to help prevent cyber fraud. GSAC is working with Sergeant Razilou to schedule a presentation on the subject of Cyber Crimes and how we can protect ourselves, we hope to announce a date for that event shortly.
To report a cyber crime call the Naples police at their nonemergency number 239-213-4844 or 239-213-3000 or email them at naplesgov.com/police, you can also visit Naples Police Department headquarters at 355 Riverside Circle.

In closing, I asked the Sergeant if he had any message for our members and the response was, “Pause before you click.” If something feels suspicious, report it to us right away.
