The Naples Police Department is looking to solve an unusual case.
Three Park Shore residents have reported that sometime during the evening hours of January 30 or the early morning hours of January 31, a threatening message was left on their SUV windshields while their vehicles were parked in their driveways, and the air was let out of one tire in all three cases.
The reported incidents took place on Old Trail and Fountainhead Lanes. One of the incidents was caught on a homeowner’s security camera, the specific time of that incident was 9:36 PM on January 30.
According to the police report, all three vehicles were tampered with by an unknown subject deflating a tire on each vehicle without causing damage and left a card on the windshield complaining about the effect of using large SUVs on the environment.
The subject was seen on a homeowner’s security camera with their face concealed with a mask or hoodie as they approached the area on a bicycle.
The Naples Police Department recommends residents take the following precautions:
- Owners of large SUVs should be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to their vehicle.
- Drivers should always check their dashboard warning lights to include tire pressure.
- Drivers should not attempt to drive on a flat tire as damage will likely occur.
- Be sure your vehicle is locked when unoccupied.
- Keep your vehicle garaged if possible.
- Suspicious activity should always be reported to the Naples Police Department non-emergency number 239 213 4844.
The incident remains under investigation.
