A few years ago, at the request of your GSAC Board of Directors, the City installed signage and flashing lights on Gulf Shore Blvd at the Horizon Way and Vedado Way crosswalks. GSAC raised concerns about pedestrian safety. These lights were added to help make crossing the street safe for everyone.
We have recently noticed residents have been crossing without pressing the button and activating the flashing lights. This creates a risk for both pedestrians and drivers who may not see someone entering the crosswalk, especially at Horizon Way, where the water feature creates a very dangerous blind spot for drivers.
Please take a moment to push the button and wait for the lights to start flashing before crossing. It’s a small action that makes a big difference in keeping our community safe.
