If you are a registered voter in the City of Naples and have not yet voted…. now is the time!
If you requested a Vote by Mail ballot, it is too late to place it in the US mail so that it is guaranteed to arrive at the Supervisor of Elections office by the deadline.
However, you can drop your ballot off in person at the Collier County Supervisor of Elections’ “Secure Ballot Intake Station” located in their office at 3750 Enterprise Avenue until 7:00 PM on Feb. 3, or at their satellite office at 2335 Orange Blossom Drive until 6:00 PM.
If you are unable to drop off your Vote by Mail ballot you take it with you to the poll on Feb.3 and vote in person.
As to the election itself:
Voters who reside in the City of Naples city limits will cast their ballots to elect 3 nonpartisan City Council members. There are 8 candidates. That is the only item on the ballot.
If you are still undecided who to vote for, below is a link to the GSAC Candidate Forum that was held on January 13. It will give you a good understanding of each candidate’s views on the most important issues: Resiliency, Public Safety, Growth and Governance.
In addition, we’ve included a link to the GSAC election flipbook. It includes a statement from each candidate on why they believe they are the best choice to be elected and includes an election “mailer” from each candidate.
Combined, the GSAC Forum video and the GSAC flip book can provide the background you need to make an educated decision on which candidates to vote for.
Why is it important for you to vote?
Historically turnout for mid-term municipal elections is light. There are 16,451 registered voters in the City. Thru Wednesday 1/27 Vote by Mail ballots were received by the Supervisor of Elections totaling 1371 or about 8.33 %.
In the 2 precincts where GSAC voters on GSBN and Naples Cay go to vote, the Vote by Mail results are similar with 641 votes received to date or about 8.4%. (As a point of interest, voters in GSAC condominiums represent about 28 percent of the voters in these 2 precincts).
As you can see every vote will be important. So please, take a few minutes out of your day on Tuesday, Feb. 3 to go to your assigned polling place—Precinct #462 at St John’s Episcopal Church or Precinct #464 at Moorings Presbyterian Church—and cast your vote.
Make your voice heard!
